EX.7

Emiratis should elect Federal National Council members based on their qualifications and not tribal connections, students have been told by a leading official.
.
He stressed that students should choose their candidates based on their “credibility, and their sincere affiliation with the country, avoiding favouritism and family ties”.

“The UAE society is not big. It is limited and all personalities know one another. The candidate should be dealing with society and known by the people to have a bigger chance,” he said. “He needs to have charisma to gain the trust of the voters.”
He said that not all candidates had great educational qualifications, “but even if he knew how to read and write, presentability in front of the people and the extent of his topics’ presentation and discussion is important”.
“Well-known names will have the priority of votes from certain people, so it is inevitable that he had field experience,” he added.

“Any deviation from this path is unacceptable, for the UAE is a prime example of solidarity and cohesion throughout Arab history. A positive and progressive citizen is one who seeks to give more to his country without waiting for anything in return.

12 Dimensions Reflection

First of all I will choose 4 dimensions from my CMI result and I will talk about the defined and the polarities.

My first dimension is Decision Making as the result shows that I am more rules than relationship and the second dimension is Outlook as the result shows that I am more innovation than tradition and my third dimension is Expression as the result shows that I am more reveal than conceal and the last dimension is Relationship as the result shows that I am more universal than situational.

The Decision Making:  thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options.

The Decision Making result surprised me, as the result shows that relationships tend to have a stronger impact on the way I make decisions. I tend to believe that policies and procedures are a result of good relationships. In my opinion, I think I am that kind of person who cares more about the rules and how to follow them. Sometimes my relationship has an impact on the way I make my decisions, but when it comes to following policies and procedures they are my first priority. Maybe relationships have a greater impact on me that I think.

Destiny: something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing

For example: Am I in control of my future or is my future in control of me?

If I can change something about my results I would change my destiny dimension. As the result shows that destiny tend to believe that the world around me has a bigger influence on shaping my future than I do. My score was 1.5. I may have an appreciation that there are times to be more directives. Rather than trying to change circumstances, I may feel more comfortable to adapt and accommodate to them.

I wish to change this because; first I want to change my self rather than waiting the world to change me. So by changing myself I will improve fast, develop my skills and feel more confident. The difference between those who are happy and those who are not, is that those who are happy focus on their approach to the world, not on their expectations of the world. I want to focus on what I can do, not on what others can do for me. I want to focus on changing myself, not blaming others

And I don’t agree with one of my dimension Communication because am more direct not indirect

Exercise 4

World cultures:
Culture is an essential part of conflict and conflict resolution. Cultures are our lives and relationships, giving us messages that shape our perceptions, attributions, judgments, and ideas of self and other. Cultures are more than language, dress, and food customs. Cultural groups may share race, ethnicity, but they also arise from cleavages of generation, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation, ability and disability, political and religious affiliation, language, and gender.
Two things are essential to remember about cultures: they are always changing, and they relate to the representative dimension of life. The representative dimension is the place where we are constantly making meaning and enacting our identities. Cultural messages from the groups we belong to give us information about what is meaningful or important, and who we are in the world and in relation to others our identities. Though largely below the surface, cultures are a shifting, dynamic set of starting points that orient us in exacting ways.
